Oscar Buzz

Oscar Nominations were announced this past week, and as a movie-lover I'm excited! Every year my family has this dinner for the Oscars where we all watch the red carpet & awards together, complete with ballots and Oscar shaped chocolates, so this event has been magical to me for as long as I can remember. Sparkling dresses, shiny statues, and sappy speeches - I love it all! I'm looking forward to the hosts this year, James Franco and Anne Hathaway - I think they'll do a great job hosting - just not too sure about their comedic abilities...but we'll see what happens! Anways, here are my picks for the main categories.

Procrastination

Just finished up exam week, and there's nothing I'm better at than procrastinating. Here's a list of some websites that helped me not study. Check them out!

LOVE GIVES ME HOPE - http://love.givesmehope.com

Today I was visiting my grandmother in the nursing home when I saw an elderly couple walking hand in hand.I called a nurse to ask about them thinking they were just two very confused people. The nurse told me that the woman does have severe demensia but that the man is her husband.

He admitted himself so they would not be separated.

Semi-Charmed Life

Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind

One of my favourites; pretty old, but still awesome.

I believe in the sand beneath my toes,
the beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling.
I believe in the faith that grows.
And that four right chords can make me cry.
When I'm with you I feel like I could die,
and that would alright, alright.

New Zodiac Signs?

In the news recently, astronomers from Minnesota delivered findings that our current zodiac signs are wrong, due to something about the moon's gravational pull on Earth, and that the stars' alignment has changed. When I heard about this news (through everyone's facebook statuses), I couldn't believe it! I've always believed strongly in astrology and found it eerily scary how much the description of a typical Virgo matched my personality, so needless to say, I was devastated. How could I have overnight become a spontaneous and extroverted Leo, when I've always been a modest and analytical Virgo?

I was not accepting all these rumours, so I started looking up some articles about the switch, and on Time magazine's website, I found this article: http://newsfeed.time.com/2011/01/14/astrologers-get-their-say-in-the-horoscope-hubbub/ Basically, in summary, it counters these new findings, explaining that Western astrology is tropical, meaning it is determined more by the seasons, and not by the alignment of stars, so these findings mostly affect the East, where they rely on sidereal astrology. We'll see what people want to believe and if these new signs will catch on or be disregarded, but I think it's safe to say my plans for a Virgo tattoo are still in the works.

Same Song?

When I first heard the new Fefe Dobson song "Stuttering" on the radio, I immediately thought it sounded identical to a Kelly Clarkson song I used to love, "Behind These Hazel Eyes". I searched it up on Youtube to see if anyone thought the same thing and found this awesome video playing the two songs at the same time, and you can really hear how alike they are!
